The Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) is organizing next Monday the roundtable gathering under the title “Building and Promoting Trust in Government Services, Polices and Operations”, with the participation of a number of government leadership in the position of undersecretaries. The purpose of the gathering is to exchange the best practices and formulate recommendations for effective and amenable government policies capable of realization of the expectations of the citizens in line with the directives of the political leadership.
The Institute has introduced the “Roundtable” initiative with a view to contribute to achieving the Bahrain’s development objectives via creation of opportunities for resolving a number of issues with the participation of the decision makers in the government sector. The round table gathering will address a number of concerns which focus on the need of decision makers in the public sector for the trust of the citizens, the key components for building, earning and keeping such trust, the impact of “satisfaction” on building and acquiring the trust, monitoring the gap between aspirations and expectations, types of trust that are appropriate for government policies, the required solutions, methodologies and strategies for treatment of the issues of trust and the role of the private and public sectors in building and maintaining confidence and trust.
The roundtable gathering will be managed by Professor Geert Bouckaert, President of the International Institute for Administrative Sciences (IIAS). Professor Bouckaert is regarded as one of the experts of public administration who headed the European Group of Public Administration (EGPA) and PRAC. He also served as manager of the Public Administration Institute at KU Leuven University of Belgium. He lectures in the fields of administrative research, reforms of the public sector, performance management and financial management. He has also published several books and articles on public administration and earned several honorary PhD degrees and international awards in recognition of his scientific contributions in the area of public administration.
