Senior Director of Specialized Programs at the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), Mrs. Ghada Shena’a stated that government projects management basics program has been re-designed in collaboration with “Ernst & Young” to accommodate the new training requirements of the government sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and by depending on studying certain cases of those who carry out project management tasks in various government disciplines and functions, adding that the new design allows the measurement of participants’ knowledge extent for training material through a focus on the practical application of graduation projects.
During the inauguration of the 8th batch of the program, Mrs. Shena’a indicated that the program depends on the practical application and personal training, where the participants carry out field visits to a government department concerned with projects management to see closely the functioning of projects, and then discuss the outcome of the visit in groups, with a view to strengthening the capacity of the participants to carry out their tasks efficiently, professionally and with superior quality.
Mrs. Shena’a also focused on the great importance of personal training in developing participants’ patterns in their projects management, therefore the program relied on 3 sessions with a specialized guide to assess points of strengths and weaknesses of each participant separately, and then the participants build up a plan for development in the area of project management and follow-up under the supervision of the personal guide.
Furthermore, Program Coordinator Mr. Faisal Al-Khayyat reviewed the three units of the program, which included planning and the start of the project, implementation and performance monitoring and ending the project successfully, and the use of technical applications in projects management. Mr. Al-Khayyat explained for 17 participants that the program extends for a period of 14 training days with a total of 114 hours of training, after completion the participant gets a certificate issued by BIPA in cooperation with Ernst & Young, in addition to a certificate from Project Management Institute (PMI), which qualifies the participant to enter Project Management Professional (PMP) examination.
It is worth mentioning that project management program includes two levels which are; basic and professional, where every level focuses on a set of different objectives, according to the different target groups, and the registration has been opened for the 4th batch of the advanced program in government projects management, which will be introduced next November.
