Additional applications are 61% above the program capacity
His Excellency Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, Director-General of the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), said that the Institute has succeeded in training and building capacities of 64 government agencies from the total number of government agencies in the Kingdom of Bahrain within a year and a half of launching the National Leadership Development Program. He added that BIPA received applications which are 61% above its capacity, addressing the training and development requirements for 2118 employees from various government authorities, while the total number of additional applications exceeded one thousand for the same period.
Dr. Bin Shams added that BIPA has increased the number of offerings for the National Leadership Development Program to reach 16, including all levels from new employees to managers and similar positions in of the public sector. He also pointed out that BIPA is working hard to increase its operational capacity despite the shortage in financial and human resources to address all applications and training needs of the government sector, especially after the issuance of the decision that made completion of the National Leadership Development Program mandatory and a prerequisite for promotion.
Dr. Bin Shams explained that the increasing requests of government employees to join the National Leadership Development Program underscores the vision of the various government agencies regarding the need to develop leadership capabilities and raise the level of government competencies at all levels of the workforce. The Bahraini human resources are the real asset for the sustainable development of our beloved Kingdom.
Dr. Bin Shams also stated that the integration of the efforts among government agencies has had the greatest impact on achieving the strategic objectives of the training programs. This in turn has contributed to the success of the training processes and helped achieve their developmental goals. He further pointed out that BIPA has supervised the development of 598 executives, heads of departments, divisions and groups since the launch of the national program.
The National Leadership Development Program is the result of a unified policy and a national training strategy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It has been introduced under the guidance of the Coordination Committee, the Civil Service Council and the Civil Service Bureau to contribute to the qualification of staff capable of assuming their leading roles in the government ecosystem efficiently.
