His Excellency Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, the Director General of the Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA), stressed on the need to strengthen good governance and support competitiveness in the Middle East and North Africa region especially in light of the current crisis and circumstances faced by entire world.
He pointed out that it is essential to integrate regional efforts to respond to the effects of the Corona Pandemic (Covid-19), adding that bolstering cohesive development and regional integration have become an urgent need today.
His Excellency’s statement came during his participation in the Conference on “Designing the roadmap to recovery in the Middle East and North Africa, which was held in joint cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Government of the Republic of Tunisia, which was attended by 40 ministers and government officials as well as 500 participants.
Dr. Bin shams explained that the meeting of regional leaderships with the concerned people, via a virtual platform, in light of the current crisis, to share the visions and administrative expertise, and employ the best methodologies and tools to come up with innovative solutions to combat the impacts from the Corona virus, was the most suitable means to reach solutions and recommendation that meet the needs of the current circumstances.
He added that the conference discussed several core and prominent issues in order to improve the public Governance, Investment opportunities, competitiveness and enabling women and youth in the Middle East and North Africa region towards economic and social development at the regional level.
Dr. Bin Shams said that the ministerial conference focused on the strategies that will guarantee the comprehensive and flexible recovery following the Corona Pandemic, explaining that an declaration will be made outlining the guiding principles and mutual responsibilities for cooperation between the governments of the Middle East and North African region and the organization within the coming years. He added that this by itself support the comprehensive and sustainable recovery in the Middle East and North Africa region by creating job opportunities and recovery and investment opportunities.
