Within its objectives to develop government work to serve citizens and in the framework of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the government action program, the Institute of Public Administration “BIPA” organized recently a 3-day contractual course with the Ministry of Transportation entitled “Performance Management”, as designing of this course stemmed from the importance of performance management considering it as a fundamental part of an organizational process for improvement and development to achieve results at the enterprise level and at the individual level.
Director of Professional Development at BIPA Mrs. Ghada Shna'a said that this course highlights “performance management” as a strategy to enhance the behaviors and the desired results in the organization, as the course is linking between how to provide institutional performance indicators for a framework to evaluate and guide the performance of individuals, also employee motivation in theory and in practice was discussed, in addition to how to link that with supervisors motivation and behavioral impact on the performance of lower-level employees in the organization.
Mrs. Shna'a revealed the detailed objectives of the course, which are represented in the ability to understand and explain the relationship between institutional success, performance management and motivation, as well as the ability to understand and explain the relationship between the performance management system and the system of rewards, in addition to the ability to contribute to the application of the performance management system and the rewards management system in the public sector, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), noting that the Institute seeks through these specialized courses to develop the capacity of all staff in the country, especially with regard to career development and performance follow-up, considering that holding of such courses contribute to the promotion of creative thinking skills, and motivate employees to use them which would be reflected positively on the employees and service-delivery in particular, and improving and developing their performance in general.
It is worth mentioning that BIPA, which cooperates with more than 26 global institutions, in order to provide the best types of training and to ensure high quality of different state institutions, had already launched several courses in agreements with many government agencies, for example, but not limited to: Council of Representatives, Ministry of Interior, Labour Market Regulatory Authority, General Organization for Youth and Sports, CSB, and Electricity and Water Authority.
