His Excellency Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, Director General of the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) has stressed the importance of the master’s program in public administration in achieving educational sustainability, which meets the aspirations of administrative work in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The program employs scientific methods and international expertise that help us reach the highest levels of global quality in providing government services up to the development aspirations. The statement was made as part of BIPA’s announcement that registration was opened for the fourth batch of the master’s program in public administration.
Dr. Bin Shams explained that the master’s program of public administration was designed specifically to meet the requirements of the government work system. It is linked directly to the government work through the government performance theme of “enhancing the government performance efficiency”, where focus is on preparation of government leaders capable of making decisions and policies based on scientific research. He also explained that one of the strategic goals of the public administration master’s degree is to prepare qualified national cadres who can develop the government work in a practical way, and to conduct researches based on the actual needs and challenges of the government work system, a matter which helps upgrade performance of the public sector institutions.
The program is introduced within the framework of international partnerships, particularly the Aix-Marseille University in France, which ranks among the best 112 universities around the world, and Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), where a group of the world leaders and presidents graduated in the field of public administration. Dr. Bin Shams also pointed out the strategic partnerships on the national level with the University of Bahrain and Tamkeen.
The program provides flexibility in academic schedule, and is comprised of 16 modules that should be completed within two years. In addition, it provides some distance learning courses, and adopts a curriculum based on exchange of international expertise and best practices. Applications for the fourth batch in the program can be made starting from August 15 to the end of September 2018, through BIPA’s website.
