The Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) announced the offering of a training course entitled “Developing Leadership Skills for Women” which will be held in the month of next June with the participation of a number of heads of departments and groups in various government ministries and bodies, as this session comes to counterpart the efforts of BIPA in implementing the government action program for the years 2015 -2018, in its theme centered on human development and social services, where the government priority in this matter is focused on enabling Bahrainis to increase their contribution in the development process through providing support, care and social development. As this session also contributes to the implementation of the government performance issue through enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of government performance.
BIPA's Executive Director of Education and Development Ishaq Ameen stated that the course of women's leadership skills development comes in execution of the strategic partnership between BIPA and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), which aims at designing special training programs for women to contribute to the development of the role of women's leadership and improve leadership and managerial prowess, explaining that this partnership between BIPA and SCW is for the implementation of the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women 2013-2022, and intensifying the programs which aim at empowering women to get equal opportunities in all areas of life, and strengthen their position and contribution into the process of development and exchange of experiences in the field of women's needs integration.
Mr. Ameen added that the partnership efforts were completed after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BIPA and SCW in 2014, and this MoU stated on implementing specialized training programs in the field of integrating women's needs, and equal opportunities that suit the targeted groups, doing research as well as organizing joint events and programs of seminars and training workshops in the area of capacity building and the organization of seminars and issuance of joint publications and brochures, in addition to proposing innovative means and methods in various women's fields, especially the integration of women's needs.
Mr. Al-Ameen also pointed out that this session is one of a series of several courses aiming at supporting the empowerment of women to take up leadership positions through developing their knowledge, skills and behaviors, which BIPA is occupied with for setting up training programs that achieve the aspirations of the government and contribute to providing an adequate training for the employees of the government, and improving the quality of this training and the extent of its availability, as well as providing opportunities to gain more experience, which is traditionally and constantly sought by the Institute for supporting women through providing training courses and programs; that some were specifically designed to prepare leaders of women capable of taking responsibility and worth the positions and the tasks assigned to them.
