Leadership Development Director at the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) Mr. Khalid Al-Eid stated that the Institute discussed in the first unit of the preparation program for government leaders (leaders) the advanced concepts in strategic leadership, adding that the goal is to introduce the concept of leadership in depth within the frame of government work, and focus on deepening qualities and skills that necessitates the ideal leader to carry out the administrative and development tasks in his organization in a proper and suitable way so as to achieve the desired results and changes.
Mr. Al-Eid mentioned that the preparation program for government leaders (leaders) is one of the most important training programs offered by BIPA, as a distinct Bahraini model of leadership, which many countries expressed their keenness to transfer the Bahraini experience in leadership to be applied and practiced in their countries, pointing out that the government action program for 2015-2018 has pointed out in its theme, entitled the government's performance under the career development section, to provide special programs to raise the level of executive leadership in the civil service, and building up a plan to develop and rehabilitate a second row of leaders and employees in all important positions, which is sought by BIPA through the preparation program for government leaders (leaders), indicating that the strategic leadership course contributes to achieving the aspirations of the government in this regard.
Mr. Al-Eid added that this program is identifying key roles of a successful administrative leader represented in determining the vision and leading the organization, development of individuals and enhancing their abilities, regulating the work of the organization and developing it, giving good care and pay attention to customer and partners, and finally accomplishment and achievement of results, stressing that these roles represent in their entirety the general framework of the Bahraini Model of Leadership. Mr. Al-Eid noted that the participants in this program are the directors and the like, whom an appointment decision was issued by the cabinet in regard to the government ministries and institutions or the authority in charge in case of the institutions non-affiliated under the umbrella of the Civil Service Law.
Concerning the importance of the advanced concepts course in strategic leadership, Mr. Al-Eid added that this session achieves the aspirations of BIPA in developing the skills and abilities of directors and their equivalents in the public sector, which help them to carry out their responsibilities and job duties to the fullest, with a focus on quality and effectiveness of job performance.
The preparation program for government leaders (leaders) Includes 8 main courses related to strategic leadership, strategic planning, customer and partners care, the skills of dealing with the media, managing effective teams, basics of public finance, and balancing between family and work, in addition to the laws and regulations that organize the work in the government sector. This program is put into action over a period of 16-weeks, as the participant is given, after completing graduation requirements, an accredited certificate from the Leadership and Management Institute in Britain ILM.
