The Institute of Public Administration “BIPA” organized a training course on the skills and methods of dealing with various media (audio, printed and visual) in which government leaders from the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) of general directors and directors. The CSB’s Director General of Policies and Salaries Adil Haji Ibrahim, who participated in this course, stressed the need for the government officials and employees to acquire skills to deal with the media, pointing to the importance of this course as it works to deepen the understanding of the media and its tools and identifying the foundations and rules of dealing with the media and means of communication in their various forms, as well as identifying the basis of interviews and techniques, especially these skills are useful for government leaders in their respective disciplines and in their daily work, in particular dealings with the public.
The Director General of Policies and Salaries added that CSB is continuously seeking to raise human capacities at government institution, which contributes significantly to the development of government action and raise the quality of services provided to citizens, noting at the same time the prominent role played by BIPA in the development and training of government employees.
For his part, the Director of Leadership Development Khalid Al-Eid at BIPA indicated that the course aims to deepen the understanding of the media in the aspect of acquiring the skill of a good preparation for interviews and exposure to the media, and the skills of speaking to the television, the radio and the press and the differences of exposing through these different means, along with identifying the basis of the interviews (printed or audible or visual) and their various methods, in addition to learning how to manage professionally the time of the interview, and gain the skill of building persuasive discourse to pass the message, as well as identifying the most important tricks and stratagem in the interviews and ways to avoid them, plus getting to know the basic rules in the use of language during the interview, and to understand and learn how to use the sound and employ it to deliver the message, also learning how to utilize body language in the delivery of the message, and to know and apply the techniques and skills that help to use and control body language, in addition to knowledge and application of gestures (hands – arm – head), and being able to estimate the distances that should be left between you and the other depending on the attitudes, and matching verbal signals with non-verbal signals, furthermore knowing the importance of the use of visual communication in dealing with others, and how to lay a basis for successful communication with a smile and how to use facial expressions to convey the message to others, as well as identifying the application of flexibility of sound and motion, and the knowledge and application of standing and sitting positions and their meanings during meetings and interviews.
