The Director General of the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) H.E. Dr. Raed Mohammed bin Shams stated that the institute presented a set of quality initiatives within the context of the memorandum of understanding with the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), additionally the Institute has adopted in this regard, two units in the MBA program involving “strategic planning” and “budgets management and public finance for government ministries and authorities and civil society institutions”, which will be implemented under the supervision of the Arabic-French Institute of business administration, as BIPA is contributing mainly in these two units; based on its firm established training experience in these disciplines and the ongoing cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the project of public sector capacity-building.
Bin Shams added that this initiative comes to activate the memorandum of understanding between BIPA and AGU, which its articles aim to provide consultation in the fields of public administration, specialized management and exchange of experienced consultants in various domains of mutual interest, in addition to the design and implementation of e-training programs, besides many of other items related to research, consultancy and training.
With regard to capacity-building project, Senior Advisor at BIPA Dr. Sufyan Sahrawi stressed that the Institute has established a partnership with the UNDP to get benefited from the experience of the program in the capacity assessment and development, and to adopt a results-based management style, in order to establish best practices through enabling the employees of the government ministries and agencies to increase productivity and efficiency and anchor the foundations for good governance.
Dr. Sahrawi elucidated that UNDP has previously embraced the Institute’s initiative of establishing e-training lab, in addition to the establishment of a unit to raise efficiency and finally establishment of the early stages of (MINAPAR) group which specializes in public administration research in the Middle East and North Africa, in collaboration with the UNDP as well, making it an important strategic partner for the Institute.
