Within the visit, organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Public Administration Division of Economic and Social Affairs in collaboration with the e-Government Authority, by 15 countries to benefit from the electronic experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) reviewed its strategy for e-training aiming at providing training services particularly for public sector employees and private institutions and citizens in general.
The president of BIPA Dr. Raed bin Shams, elucidated that the Institute aims to develop public administration and training in the State’s ministries and institutions, and contributes in preparing and training of staff, to ensure upgrading the level of public administration and support plans for economic and social development, thus the Institute has been keen to establish a complete e-environment that provides training and learning opportunities for the employees through e-training project.
Dr. bin Shams added: “e-training has become the mean of current era in the field of developing and building individuals’ capacities, as well as the acquisition of various personal skills without being bound by space and time, affirming that BIPA today adopts a leading role in this area, and the Institute has provided in collaboration with the e-Government Authority e-training services for government employees, on the national portal site Bahrain.bh where these services allow employees to enroll in the online training courses provided in both Arabic and English, with the ability of withdrawal from a pre-registered course or add another one electronically”.
Dr. bin Shams indicated that the institute is keen to strengthen the partnership with the private sector and to expand the scope of this partnership to include also the neighboring countries to benefit from the expertise of the Institute in the design and development of diverse electronic courses, calling on participants to take advantage of the Institute’s e-training solutions and products, which are being developed on an ongoing basis in accordance with the latest studies and to meet the requirements of the beneficiaries.
The members of the international delegation praised BIPA’s experience in the field of e-training and expressed their desire to look closely at the models of the training projects which were carried out by the Institute and take advantage of them to study the application of similar projects in their countries.
It has been scheduled for the international delegation to get a brief on the experiences of a number of other government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Central Informatics Organization, and Bahrain Investors Centre, consequently; the e-Government Authority will organize tours, in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Information Technology, for the visiting delegations to discover the experiments of the above-mentioned government agencies, and systems and major projects in the field of information and communication technology oriented towards individuals and investors.
