The Institute of Public Administration held a training workshop for capacity building entitled 'Educational Design' for a number of government institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, during the current week.
This session comes within the partnership program declared and agreed upon between the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) and the Arabian Gulf University, and will be followed by other courses in the field of designing and developing built-in and electronic solutions for education and training issues, which have been prepared in light of the region's needs and today's technological requirements. These sessions are characterized by a degree of flexibility and openness to the extent that encompass the efforts of all professionals in the region, to develop training outputs, rehabilitation, and give training opportunities that enable ministries and various agencies to retain their employees in their work place and ensure suitable training for them in order to raise their skills and career proficiency.
It should be noted that BIPA has provided advisory service to the Sultanate of Oman to set up a special unit for e-training in the Omani Ministry of Civil Service, this service came within the steps to begin the transition to e-consultation phase after the Institute success at the local level in the field of e-training.
The Advisory Service was agreed upon after several visits to the Omani Ministry of Civil Service, and the study included, which started in November last year and lasted for six months, carrying out the feasibility study, the development of an implementation plan for the project in addition to description of programs and systems and characterization of the organizational structure.
The Institute of Public Administration seeks through providing consultation to expand its services base in the field of e-training through the activation of cooperation with various parties, regionally and globally in order to increase the e-initiatives.
The education design session seeks to enable trainees to acquire the skills of analyzing the systems and models of education and training through selecting learner characteristics, course content, communications and information technologies, and to provide students with the necessary skills to design and build a course suitable for education and training.
This session addresses topics such as: traditional and contemporary education design theories, the key components for the process of designing and developing courses and programs of study, the process of designing education based on behavior, knowledge and criticism theories and constructivism theories in both its learning and social, in addition to applying the design and the development procedures, according to the different theories.
The session activities will be implemented according to the method of integration in education and training that takes into account the active and positive role of the trainee, where he is expected to participate in (F2F) meetings, and do the designing, production and presentation of types of materials and media which he intends to employ in education and training in his field of work. In addition to using of distance learning environments, integrated learning, and doing some practical assignments that link between theory and its practical applications.
