Within the framework the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) arrangements to host the 29th International Conference of Public Administration, scheduled for June 1 to 6, 2013 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a seminar will be held on the fifth day of the Conference on the role of Middle Eastern women in the public administration sector and will be attended by lecturers from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The seminar will be presented in three languages: Arabic, English and French and will be attended by academicians, civil servants, local officials, politicians, experts and students from all over the world.
The seminar will address several topics including the impact of the Arab Spring on Arab women, the challenges and opportunities available for women in the Arab and Muslim worlds, the challenges and opportunities for women in the public service today, and how to promote women's leadership in the public service sector.
The importance of this symposium lies in the fact that this is the first time in the history of international conferences of public administration that light is to be shed on the roles of women in public administration. Indeed, it is expected that during this symposium the current situation of females workers in the sector of public administration in the Middle East will be diagnosed. This seminar will contribute to the enrichment of public administration at the world level.
The seminar will be moderated by Najat Zarrouq, a member of the Arab Women’s Leadership Institute’s (AWLI) Board of Directors and chairperson of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration. She also serves as Director General of Training for Administrative and Technical Staff in the Moroccan Ministry of Interior.
Key speakers in this seminar are: Dr Fatima Al-Balooshi, Minister of Social Development from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr Hanan Al-Ahmadi, Member of the Saudi Arabia Shura Council and Dr. Laila El Baradei, Associate dean for the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and Visiting Professor of public Administration at the Public Policy and Administration Department – American University in Cairo.
The public administration circles in the world are looking forward to the 29th International Conference of Public Administration which will tackle its main theme: “The Future of Public Administration: Leadership and Professionalism” as well as other sub-themes namely: the risk and future strategies, leadership in the future, and the creation of innovative services for the future.
The International Conference will be held in collaboration with the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Public Administration (IASIA), the two largest specialized organizations in Administrative Sciences in the world.
