Under the influential power of media and press in shaping public opinion, and the extent of media impact in crafting effective change, thus emanating from the importance of choosing words which in turn are a key ally to support stances and laying thoughts properly and thoroughly, BIPA has finished a course entitled “skills of dealing with media,” which was held by the Institute in the studios of Bahrain TV over 3 consecutive days as part of the preparations program for government leaders.
The Institute's Executive Coordinator of the (leaders) program Khalid Al-Eid stated that the participating managers are fully prepared to deal with various media due to the abilities acquired during the course of dialogue and debate skills, expertise on interviews and press conferences, along with the skills of body language in communication and harmony with the words. On the other hand, the managers stressed the importance and the need to hold such courses for some employees at the government institutions, in addition to the accessible distinct media skills.
Mr. Al-Eid added that the course on skills of dealing with media aimed at developing the skills of the trainees in dealing with the media, through the application of the best methods and modern practices, which focused on the rehabilitation of the participants to conduct interviews and presenting news through the media, as well as participating in press conferences and talk debates, the course also contributed in revealing various personalities of managers and development of their speech skills.
The course on skills of dealing with media is considered one of seven specialized courses within the leaders program, which included in its 7th batch, 17 managers from various government ministries and bodies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the trainee is awarded, after meeting the requirements of the program, a certificate from the Institute of Public Administration accredited by the National School of Government in Britain (NSG-UK).
It is worth mentioning that the program aims in general to make trainees identify closely the most important challenges facing government leaders, and how to tackle them, along with the opportunity for managers to identify business requirements – as a government manager – and equip them with a range of knowledge, skills and values that help them perform their leadership role in the government sector, the program also aims to create a network of communication between managers – as part of middle management – in such a way that contributing in the development of work and serve to facilitate the work procedures between government departments.
