His Excellency Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, the Director General of the Bahrain Institute for Public administration, (BIPA), affirmed that the National Program for the development of Government Leaderships has proved its success in rehabilitating National Leadership for managing the Administrative system during the current crisis. He said it was clearly visible from the outputs and initiatives of the graduates of the National Program which have contributed to the continuation of the administrative progress and realization of the government’s aspirations and visions in light of the pandemic. He further added that the National Program for the development of government leadership is not limited to just the development of leaders but also works to prepare them to deal with the current crisis and future challenges in innovative ways that contribute to improving the performance of the government.
His Excellency’s statement came on the Institute’s launch of a new study entitled “The impact of the Corona Pandemic on the performance level of Government sector employees in the Kingdom of Bahrain”, which is a study of 3000 government employees who have graduated from the National Program for the Development of Government Leadership.
Dr. Bin Shams explained that the results of the study proved that there is a positive relationship between the training methodology of the National Program for the Development of Government Leadership and the level of personal performance of the graduates of the program at various levels. Fifty Eight percent (58%) of the participants in the study confirmed an increase in level of productivity of employees during the Corona Pandemic while Sixty Five percent (65%) of the program’s graduates demonstrated their use of leadership methods in their teams and groups during the pandemic.
His Excellency added that the study showed that Seventy Five percent (75%) of the graduates of the National Program for the Development of Government Leadership presented innovative government initiatives and projects during the current crisis which contributed to the improvement in the overall government performance promoting continued administrative progress and the realization of the government’s visions and aspirations during the crisis.
Dr. Bin Shams stated that the National Program for the Development of Government Leadership was designed to reflect a number of strategic objectives and Visions like the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and strengthen best Administrative practices in Bahraini Government work. He added that the Program not only develops the National leaderships but also prepares the leaderships to deal with the current crisis and the future challenges via innovative means pointing out that the study carried out by the Institute has proven that the graduates of the National Program followed distinct administrative methodologies, showing that Seventy Four percent (74%) of them worked with the teams in an integrated way to achieve results despite social distancing and remote work conditions, and that Seventy percent (70%) of graduates dealt effectively with service seekers and that Sixty percent (60%) of them contributed with the senior leadership in developing new strategic plans to deal with the Corona pandemic crisis.
